Merge to 32-bit HDR Tutorial

This tutorial quickly reviews how to use the Merge to 32-bit HDR Plug-in for Lightroom. If you haven't downloaded the plug-in yet, you can do so from this page.

The plug-in works with photos from the same scene taken with different exposures, commonly referred to as bracketed photos.

The plug-in merges your bracketed photos and saves them as Floating-Point TIFF, a high dynamic range (HDR) format which is able to store images with very large variations in brightness.

You can then use Lightroom's Develop module to adjust the image, and reveal the highlights and shadows.

Go to step 1 to select the photos and invoke the plug-in.

Note: If your camera supports Automatic Exposure Bracketing and you have not taken bracketed photos with it yet, you may be interested in these video tutorials.
