Step 3: Tone Map
As we have checked the option "Go directly to tone mapping", we are taken directly to the Tone Mapping dialog. The HDR image has been automatically generated from the photos you exported from Lightroom.
Photomatix Pro offers two methods to tone map your HDR image: The Details Enhancer method increases local contrast, which has the effect of boosting shadows and may create a painterly effect.
The Tone Compressor method produces a more "photographic" look.
For a detailed tutorial on using the settings, please refer to the video tutorial on Photomatix Pro tone mapping.
When you are satisfied with the result, click Process. Photomatix Pro will apply your settings and process the final, tone mapped image.
As we have chosen to re-import the result to Lightroom, the processed tone mapped image will not show in Photomatix Pro. Instead, the processed image will be automatically saved and re-imported into Lightroom.
